"BURDENED HOPE: The Story of a Boy Called Tomorrow" is the story of a ten-year old boy who bears the hope of his family in spite of the enormous socio-economic challenges of his environment. As the city of Lagos expands, the strain on basic infrastructure and social amenities has become dire. There are thousands of families struggling to making a living on the fringes of the Lagos lagoon. This documentary film tells the story of one such community from the perspective of a child who in spite of the challenges of everyday life in this squalid, poverty-stricken environment is the only hope of his parents. Through his journey, we gain salient insights into the realities and pain of child poverty and opportunities to ameliorate and possibly eradicate it.
